Compiling this weekend’s line-up of events in Jozi isn’t a complete weekend round-up for 15 – 17 October… and that’s absolutely great as there’s so much to do and to see. At the end of the article, as usual, I will provide links to additional sites so that a broader spectrum is at your fingertips.
Let the music begin
Jam Session @ The Jazz Room: DoppioZero Rosebank (The Firs Shopping Centre)
Tonight (Friday 15 October), features The Jazz Room’s first Jazz Jam Session since the loosening of lockdown restrictions. In my opinion, this is the best opportunity to experience the versatility of the musicians… as each instrument enters ‘the fray’, the vibe intensifies and pure joy emanates from the performers. The freedom to express one’s self through one’s chosen instrument can only be truly experienced at a jam session. The charge is only R50 and it includes a welcome drink.
The line-up includes: Reza Khota (guitar), Muhammad Dawjww (saxophone) and Ariel Zamonsky (Cello)

Exhibition on Screen returns to Cinema Nouveau (Rosebank Mall)
The beauty of attending a cinematic screening of an art exhibition is that one receives a ‘personal’ tour filled with facts galore. This weekend ‘Raphael Revealed’ opens the season (15 Oct) marking the 500th anniversary of Raphael Sanzio da Urbino’s death. In celebration of his artistic contribution, an exhibition was hosted in Rome allegedly displaying over 200 of his works – paintings and drawings.
According to the curators over 100 of these works are being displayed together for the first time.
