Monster Family 2: The true meaning of family

It’s part of life to be afraid of trying something new and not necessarily succeeding. However, the support of your family members is integral to the way in which you respond to the situation. This is the premise upon which ‘Monster Family 2’ is built.

Max (Ethan Rouse) and Fay (Jessica Brown Findlay) are two ‘seemingly normal’ children traversing the ups and downs of growing up. Where Max is always landing up in embarrassing situations, he picks himself up, dusts himself off and starts all over again. Fay, on the other hand is going through a phase where she believes her parents don’t care about her at all… but, then again she’s a typical teenager! She soon learns this is not the case at all as her parents are enabling her to ‘stand on her own two feet’.

Although all is not as it seems and the Wishbone family is anything but normal, the one element that remains is parental support. When the children’s surrogate grandmother – Baba Yaga is kidnapped during her wedding ceremony and her betrothed, Renfield follows, Max really comes to the fore. Yes, he makes mistakes, but he doesn’t give up… and when they turn back into monsters that’s when their combined strength saves the day.

Mila Starr (Emily Carey), on the other hand, is the daughter of highly successful scientists and nothing she can do is ever good enough. She always has to be the best at every task she undertakes and she spends her life trying to please her parents believing this will make them love her more. Little does she know that her life will be changed completely when she meets Max; that she will learn what it is to be loved, supported and accepted for who she is – the true meaning of family.

And who, you may ask, is Mila Starr? Well, she is a monster kidnapper on a mission which she believes is to save the world. In order to do so, she has to capture Dracula, the Lochness Monster, the Yeti, Baba Yaga and more.

Animated adventure

Although these are ghoulish characters, they are personalities to which the entire family can relate. It’s a fabulous animated adventure which has the viewer routing for Max and sympathizing with Mila as they travel from earth to the star(r)s and back. Well worth watching!
