This weekend Kristen Bell and Kirby Howell-Baptiste go head-to-head with Vince Vaughn in a comedy with extremely serious consequences, namely, ‘Queenpins’ (2021)… and this begs the question: “Are you a savvy super-saver?” To what lengths would you go to save that extra cent on a purchase?

Marketing strategies, more often than not, include incentives to entice customers to purchase their products… and, we as the customer don’t think twice. For instance, ‘buy three and only pay for two’… what does the savvy super-saver do?… take advantage of the ‘opportunity’!
If we are provided with the opportunity to ‘save’ on a purchase by making use of a coupon especially on a ‘high-end’ (expensive) product then we will respond with alacrity.
This is exactly what stimulated three Phoenix-based women to create a business which offered their shoppers ‘free’ coupons in exchange for a fee – an actual event upon which ‘Queenpins’ is based. Humour with a twist
‘Queenpins’ is a humorous, fictional rendition of the ‘Coupon Con’. Focusing on two friends – Connie (Kristen Bell) and Jo-Jo (#Kirby Howell-Baptiste). Frustrated by the inability to conceive and having over-extended expenditure on treatment, Connie has turned to couponing to cut down on household expenses. Jo-Jo on the other hand is unemployed and trying to get known for her shopping advice by building a brand on YouTube.
By taking advantage of every offer available, Connie creates her own stockroom. This takes on an additional dimension when one of the products is sub-standard and she contacts the company to complain. What does the company do in return? Replace the product and more. This sparks an idea … and, I am going to say no more!
Vince Vaughn, who over the years has had me rolling in the aisles, is superb as the Postal Inspector who delves into the ladies who dare use ‘his’ postal service to run their business. The instigator of the investigation? Loss prevention officer – Ken Miller (#Paul Walter Hauser) who is prepared to go to the nth degree to find the perpetrators.
‘Queenpins’ is a fabulous way to let your hair down this weekend… light-hearted entertainment which should strike a chord with everyone!
