Spring weekend entertainment line-up in Jozi: 3-5 September 2021

Rosebank is the place to be this Spring weekend. The buds are beginning to appear and it’s warm enough to sit outside sipping a cocktail and watching the sun set in the horizon. Over and above that, however, live entertainment is slowly returning as are a plethora of movies to choose from. Here is a tantalizing taste.

Live Jazz @DoppioZero Rosebank

Amaeshi Ikechi will be joined by Marcus Wyatt, Bokani Dyer and Peter Auret this Friday (3 September). Doors open at 6pm. Booking is essential!

This Nigerian-born bassist has had the opportunity to work with legends such as Miriam Makeba, Sibongile Kumalo, Simphiwe Dana, Lira and more.

 

 

Food and Music @Stages – Joburg Theatre

Joburg Theatre Jozi Food and Music Saturday’s at Stages is a place where locals come together, where everyone feels comfortable, relax , embrace their inner misfit, eat and enjoy music”, states the website. Doors open at 6pm this Saturday (4 September).

Wonderboom Live @Radium Beer Hall

For those who prefer to rock, Wonderboom is coming to Jozi on Saturday (4 Sept). Limited tickets available.

Gin & Chocolate Tasting Distillery Tour

How about trying something totally different this weekend? A 90-minute tour of the Time Anchor Distillery in Maboneng with a guided tasting of 3 Mirari Gins paired with artisanal chocolates.

Secret Sunrise Party @Old Eds

This is definitely a ‘party’ with a difference which combines ‘meditation and ecstatic dance’ on Sunday morning (5 September) from 8am. ‘Participants will be provided with headsets on arrival and guided by facilitators’. Booking via Quicket

#ClearYourClutter Market @Rosebank Sunday Market

The first Sunday of every month is a bargain hunter’s dream as one can spend hours walking up and down the aisles at the Rosebank Sunday Market. There’s also the opportunity to choose from the variety of deli options for lunch … and for those who wish to have a drink with their meal, the is a bar with a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options.

Synopsis: This is the third film in the  ‘After’ series ( ‘After’– 2019; ‘After We Collided’ – 2020) based on the teen novels penned by Anna Todd which focuses on the lives of Tessa Young and Hardin Scott.

Around the World in 80 Days

Synopsis: This is a magnificent animation loosely based on the Jules Verne novel. Phileas Frogg is a ‘confrog’ of note who crosses paths with a young marmoset dreaming of exploring the world. When the opportunity to win 10-million clams is up for grabs, Phileas cannot resist the temptation and so begins a delightful adventure.
