What is it that you really want for the Festive Season? Every rule which governs the crafting of an article states one shouldn’t begin with a question, but we really would like to know the answer.

Although Johannesburg is known as South Africa’s business hub, there’s still plenty of fun for the entire family… and Rosebank should be your destination of choice.
“Why Rosebank?” you may ask. Well, it’s the most centrally located suburb in Johannesburg, easily accessible and the perfect place to lay your head at night.
For instance, the Joburg Theatre with its annual pantomime is just as easy to reach as is the Joburg Zoo with its Festival of Lights. Melrose Arch, too, is a festive delight as is Mandela Square with its live music concerts. Transport options are plentiful with the Gautrain approximately two blocks away from the hotel. With a plethora of events from which to choose, the visitor to Johannesburg is sure to find something to attend. This year, the decorations at the various Malls are extremely sedate and refined, but one can feel the pulsating undertones of the upcoming Festive Season.
After all we’ve been through, it’s absolute fabulous to know that there are so many live events from which to choose. One of the beauties of staying in a central location, such as Rosebank, means that drinking and driving definitely is not a concern!
Talking about being spoilt for choice, there are also so many craft and food markets from which to choose – finding that special present will be a joy!

Whether you are celebrating Hannukah (18-26 Dec); Christmas (25 Dec); Yule – The 12 Days of Christmas; thanking the ancestors; Kwanzaa or merely meditating in nature – Johannesburg has the venue. In fact, in addition to traditional centres of worship there are also some amazing places to visit while you are here. For instance, there is the magnificent Sufi Mosque in Midrand – easily accessible by Gautrain.

The peace and tranquility within the walls of the Jack Rose are catalysts for relaxation. In addition, walks along the tree-lined streets or a meander to Zoo Lake opens one’s eyes to the beauty that surrounds us.
Of course, plans can be made to visit the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens or even the MonteCasino Bird Park. Travelling a little further out, there are plenty of hiking trails which abound, making for an ideal day’s outing.
