It’s time to celebrate as we begin the journey of returning to normality, or should we say the ‘new normal’ because social distancing will still be with us for a while. However, saying that, we aim to ‘jazz’ up your weekends with live music..
Pop along to Patio@10Tyrwhitt, situated at the base of The Jack Rose and dine al-fresco basking in the warmth of our magnificent South African sunshine (or under the protection of an umbrella), for the next two weekends at least, listening to the live sounds of talented musicians. And, as if that isn’t enticement enough the restaurant is offering free shooters to the first 20 patrons who walk through the gate for the performances.
Saxophonic mastery: Live Music Sunday 10 April
Gabriel Masike, founder of The African Jazz Hounds, is the first to grace the Patio@10Tyrwhitt this April. On Sunday (10 April) from 12pm – 2pm he will take you on a melodic journey which not only highlights the saxophone but also the variety of jazz music prevalent in South Africa.
With the aim of preserving South African sounds such as Kwela, Marabi and Mbaqanga expanded upon by greats such as Hugh Masekela, Miriam Makeba and Abdulah Ibrahim to name but some, Gabriel founded his band. On Sunday, we are so fortunate to be treated to a solo performance by this virtuoso before he jets off to Europe on the 18th with his fellow band members for a 6-month tour.
This a performance not to be missed especially if you enjoy live music and in particular the saxophone.
Mike the Guitar Man: Live Music Friday 15 April
A party of note lies ahead as Mike the Guitar Man returns to the Patio@10Tyrwhitt stage on Friday 15 April from 3pm – 6pm. What a way to welcome in the Easter Weekend!
Mike was such a hit last month that it was imperative he return due to popular demand. His repertoire is vast and it’s virtually guaranteed that you will not be able to sit still. This is live music at its best! Sing along, tap your feet or even dance with (or without) your partner… and, this time around alcoholic beverages will be available. In fact, the first 20 patrons to arrive will receive a free shooter to enhance that party vibe.
In addition, there’s a brand new menu which offers light as well as more hearty, delicious dishes. Kieryn Probert, the highly-experienced restaurant manager will be on hand to ensure you have a magnificent experience.
